Where temporary;
The removal and storage costs must enable a family member to take up
residence or continue to reside near the employees’ new location.
Where returning to usual work location;
The removal and storage costs must enable a family member to take up
residence or continue to reside near the employees’ usual location.
Where permanent;
The removal and storage costs must enable a family member to take up
residence or continue to reside near the employees’ new location. The
costs must occur within 12 months of the date the employee commences
work at the new location.
The employee must not be undertaking travel in the normal course of
business.

Relocation Consultant Costs
The relocation consultant costs must arise solely because the employee is
required to;
- Live away from their usual place of residence to commence new
employment duties;
- Return to their usual place of residence to commence new employment
duties;
- Relocate his or her place of residence in order to perform employment
duties.
Payment of expenses by a relocation consultant on behalf of the employee,
are not allowed.

Relocation Transport
The relocation transport is provided because the employee is required to
live away from or change his or her usual place of residence in order to
perform employment duties.
The transport is provided to enable the employee and family members to
take up residence at the new location or return to a former location.
The transport provided to family members must not be concurrent with a
business trip.
Where the travel costs are in relation to car expenses, these are
reimbursed on a cents per kilometre basis.

The employee or an associate of the employee must have an interest in the
residential property.
The residential property must be sold because of the relocations.
The employee/associate must hold the interest when the employer notifies
the employee of the need to relocate.
At the time the employee is notified, he/she must occupy the residential
property or intend to occupy the property if not yet built.
The employee/associate has a period of 2 years from commencement at
the new location to enter into a contract to sell the residential property.

The employee or an associate of the employee must acquire a residential
property, near the new location and because of the requirement to
relocate.
The employee or associate has a period of up to 4 years from
commencement at the new location to enter into a contract to purchase a
new residential property.
The employee occupies or proposes to occupy it as the usual place of
residence.
Connection Or Reconnection Of Utilities
Connection Or Reconnection Of Utilities
The accommodation, where connection/re-connection is required, must be
required because the employee is required to live away from or change his
or her usual place of residence in order to perform employment duties.
A telephone service must be connected within 12 months of
commencement at the new place of employment and a telephone service
must also have been provided at the previous residence.
Gas or electricity services must be connected within 12 months of
commencing at the new location.

The temporary accommodation is required solely because the employee is
required to relocate residence because of a change of employment duties.
The temporary accommodation is located at or near the employee’s former
residence.
The accommodation must be necessary because the employee’s home at
the former locality becomes unavailable or unsuitable for occupancy.

Interview And Selection Tests
The benefit is provided to an employee to attend an interview or a
selection test in connection with employment, promotion or transfer.
The travel is required solely for the interview or selection test.
Car expenses are reimbursed on a cents per kilometre basis.

The leased goods must be primarily for the domestic use of the employee
or family members.
The goods must be required the employee because he or she is required to
live away from home to perform employment duties.
